Michelle Renton 

 

Michelle has had over twenty years teaching experience working with children from K- 12. She has experience as both a Primary and Secondary school teacher. She has been teaching kids yoga for over 10 years and is also the creator of YOGAZOO (since 2006)- Perth’s first yoga school for children. Michelle has been teaching ‘mindfulness’ in schools for the last two years. She combines her professional training and experiences with a love of yoga and strongly believes in the astounding benefits to mental and physical wellbeing that yoga offers. Her speciality is creating lessons and programs that support the ‘whole child’ and acknowledges that all children are unique.

  • Michelle graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education;

    Michelle has always dreamed a future where schools are seedbeds of health and happiness. She is excited to grow her love of kids yoga with her new in school programs that not only make a positive impact but may also change children’s lives.

Leigh Reddall 

Leigh is a vibrant and skilled educator with over 20 years of experience specialising in movement education.  She is a qualified secondary school Teacher, Kids Yoga Teacher, Massage Therapist and mother to two mini yogi’s.

 Leigh’s approach to Kids Yoga is creative and sensitive to the needs of her students.  With her years of education experience and training in the emotional and physical requirements of children, she is able to develop unique yoga and mindfulness experiences that cater for all learning needs, ages and levels of physical ability.Leigh is passionate about the well being of children, connecting and making a difference.

Leigh backs up her ability to establish a strong rapport with children quickly, with a keen eye for the creative potential in her students.  It is her belief that if we unlock the creative potential in children, they can approach the world with a positive, lateral and adaptable mind.  These skills then build self-esteem, resilience and confidence. 

Leigh has completed the Foundation, Advanced and Mastery Training Course in Kids Yoga through Zenergy Yoga. She also has extensive Dance training, with a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance and Drama (Double Major).  Her Graduate Diploma of Education is in Dance and English.  Leigh also has completed a 1-year certificate in Massage Therapy at Melbourne College of Natural Medicine, in her early 20’s. 

Leigh currently works as a secondary school teacher in Dance, while raising her two young children.  Leigh is thrilled to be part of the Yoga Zoo team and thoroughly looks forward to sharing her love of movement and mindfulness. 

Julia King

 

 

 

 

 

 

Julia brings 25 years of experience in early childhood settings to her teaching. A yoga practice of 4 years firstly from a keep fit¹ view, deepening to a more yogic lifestyle and daily home practice. Julia¹s teaching style comes from an open heart and deep passion for teaching all aspects that yoga offers. Julia has taught with YOGAZOO in a variety of settings and teaches regularly on other projects. Julia is particularly drawn to offering yoga to members of the community less likely to attend a regular yoga class with a deep connection to teaching children and adults living with ASD. Julia is our specialist teacher for Autism West, with which we have a close relationship.

 

Julia holds:

  • 250 HR YTT, registered with Yoga Alliance;

  • 40Hr Children¹s YTT;

  • 40Hr Teen YTT;

  • 40 Hr Meditation TT.

Prabha Avyand

 

 

 

 

 

 

Prabha’s appreciation and love for yoga started at a very young age. She has been practising yoga for over 20 years and teaching kids yoga for over 6 years.

She has completed her teacher training foundation course, advanced teacher training and yoga therapy course with Zenergy Yoga. She is a mother of two and is passionate about empowering children to reach their highest potential and to discover their inner power through yoga on and off the mat.

Jen Warne

 

Jen is our newest addition to the Yoga Zoo team and is currently running our NOR classes. Having a strong individual yoga practice herself and having completed both adult and kids yoga teacher trainings she is now delighted to be bringing the benefits of yoga to children. Jen is playful and loves to draw creativity out of her students and help them find their own confidence, inner calm, love for yoga and themselves.

  • Kids Yoga Teacher Training with YOGAKIDS S.A; 

  • 200 hour teacher training certificate in Ashtanga and Yin with Yoga Bliss Lembongan.

Genie McGrath

 

 

 

 

 

Genie is a Primary School Teacher, Mum to 3 beautiful children and a self-confessed yogaholic! She has been passionate about working with children since she began teaching in 2001, working in schools throughout the Perth region. She even facilitated her local Playgroup when her own children were young. After travelling to India to complete her Yoga Teacher Training, the transition to Kid’s Yoga was a natural progression for her. Genie is happy working with children of all ages, from mums & bubs through to teens. She has enjoyed being part of YOGAZOO visiting local schools, child-care centres, libraries or donning the head mic for big events like

Funarium and Perth Zoo Teddy Bear’s Picnic! Genie’s kid’s yoga sessions are imaginative and energetic, but most importantly a lot of FUN!
